Prenuptial courses may be done in another parish accredited by the Archdiocese through its corresponding Archpriesthood. It is advisable to take the course between two to six months before the wedding.

The Basilica of St. Michael belongs to the archpriesthood of San Pedro el Real (La Paloma). The Schedule of prenuptial courses are indicated in the tab WORKSHOPS PRENUPTIAL.

MARRIAGE DOCUMENTS

The marriage documents are normally done first at the parish of the bride wherein the parish properly registers the sacrament of marriage. The same parish will help you to manage the necessary documents which vary according to the situation of each spouse (not baptized, widower, resident outside of Madrid, etc.).

The processing of the marriage register ends in the preparation of the canonical document called Alegato V. It usually takes a month.

Here are the steps to follow to obtain all documents.

CEREMONY

The spouses come to the Basilica and consult with the person responsible regarding the various aspects of the celebration. See here the basic contents of the agreement between the Basilica and the bride and groom.

A) Liturgical Preparation
It is appropriate that the bride and groom have an interview with the priest who will preside at the celebration and finalize with him the various parts of the celebration.

B) Music
The Basilica has an excellent titular organist who plays in all kinds of celebrations with a reasonable fee. Of course, the spouses can bring their own choir, orchestra or organist. There are some details that the bride and groom should know (characteristics of organ, capacity of the choir, schedule of rehearsals, etc.). For those interested to know the various groups of musicians who often play in the Basilica, you may access here to see the addresses of the musical groups.

C) Photography and video
According to the instructions of the Archdiocese of Madrid (Click here to read the document), the photographers authorized by the Basilica are the only ones who can have photo and video coverage of the wedding. If other photographers are desired, the Rector must first be asked for authorization.

D) Offering
The offering that is given means collaboration with the needs of the Church. It is not that you have to pay for receiving a Sacrament. Nor is it merely a compensation for the expenses of the wedding (light, heater, etc.). The offering of the bride and groom is made for the support of worship. With regards to the terms of the celebration, will be informed of the offering established for each year and to reserve a date, leave a quantity as the signal.

E) Other Details

The flowers may be arranged with any flower shop but the basilica offers the services of the following found on this link.
